As we gear up for the sprint race, let's take a moment to appreciate the thrill that is F1. The adrenaline, the speed, the sound of engines revving - it's a feeling like no other. And this year, we have something new to look forward to the new sprint race format.
Now, let's dive into what's new in this year's sprint race.
F1 has confirmed the new sprint race weekend format and it promises to be one of the most exciting F1 weekends in a long time. With three full days of racing action, there will be plenty of chaos and excitement for F1 fans to look forward to.
Previously, the F1 sprint weekend looked like this:
Friday: A 60-minute Free Practice 1 (FP1), followed by a qualifying session for the sprint race
Saturday: A 60-minute Free Practice 2 (FP2) followed by a sprint race (approx. 100 km)
Sunday: A full grand prix, whose grid position is set by the position from the sprint race.
However, FIA has introduced a completely new format to the sprint race weekend, which looks like this:
Friday: A 60-minute Free Practice (FP1), followed by grand prix qualifying
Saturday: Sprint Shootout followed by the sprint race
Sunday: The Grand Prix Race
The new Sprint Saturday is the most exciting addition to the weekend, comprising a Sprint Shootout and a Sprint Race. The Sprint Shootout is a new addition to the format, and here's how it works.
Sprint Shootout: It’s a 30 min qualifying round for the sprint race. In this format:
Q1: 12 minutes, mandatory medium tires
Q2: 10 minutes, mandatory medium tires
Q3: 8 minutes, mandatory soft tires
Important: For each qualification round, new sets of tires are necessary. The elimination round remains the same, with the 5 slowest cars from each round getting eliminated.
As we eagerly await the start of the sprint race weekend, there are a few rumors circulating the paddock.
One of the hottest rumors is about Taylor Swift and Fernando Alonso dating, which has fans going crazy as hell.
In other news, Franz Tost is reportedly stepping down as a team principal of AlphaTauri.
